Hitting the Wall

The WallA young explorer once set out to see and learn everything in the world. He began his journey by setting out in one direction and eventual came to an impossibly high and impenetrable wall. So he returned home and then set out in a different direction. Again, his path ended at the wall.

Returning home, he made many trips, each in a different direction, and each ending at the wall. Finally, he decided to measure the length of the wall, so he traveled up to it, and began to walk along it. Eventually, he found himself back at his starting point.

By now, he was no longer a young explorer but an old one. He had seen everything in the world. He had learned about everything in the world. Still, there was the reality of the wall. He sat on the ground, with his back up against it.

Opening his journal, the compendium of all he knew, he leafed through its pages. Then, on the very last page he wrote these words:

“I know everything on this side of the wall. But If there is a wall, there must be something on both sides. What is on the other side?

”I hope to meet Him soon.”
