It is important for us to understand the deep difference between Christianity and Islam. One community succeeds insofar as it provides freedom for all; the other succeeds insofar as it imposes submission to oppression. One fails through the evil and violent sins of human beings and seeks mercy from a loving God revealed through divine revelation; the other performs violence and sin in obedience to divine revelation and seeks salvation through its ability to show no mercy.
When a Christian or Jew is violent, intolerant, and unforgiving, that person is not a good Christian, according to the Bible, the word of God, Jesus, the prophets, and apostles. When a Muslim is peaceful, tolerant, and forgiving, that person is not a good Muslim, according to the Quran, the word of Allah, Muhammad, Ayatollahs, and imams.
This is not an opinion, nor is it an expression of intolerance. It is merely the truth. The danger is that one community must see the other as redeemable through understanding, tolerance, forgiveness, and love. The other community must view its counterpart with rejection, resistance, condemnation, and loathing.
